Ava Hall 

BET International

Creativity and versatility have enabled Ava Hall to make a name for herself in a variety of areas within the entertainment industry.

Currently, she is Vice President of Programming and Production for BET International where she’s responsible for leading the International division’s programming, production and on-air planning strategies and execution for all of its international channels and programming blocks, currently in the UK and Africa.  Since being in this role Hall has been responsible for localizing the channels with British, Caribbean and African accents by developing content such as “It’s my Thing” and “Global Good” interstitials and original programming like “Culture Vibe,”  “Brits Abroad” and “Global View” hosted by acclaimed British journalist Henri Bonsu which gave International viewers an in-depth view at the 2009 Presidential campaign and Inauguration.  Hall was also responsible for having the first International artist perform on a BET mega special when British/Nigerian artist Muyiwa and Riversongz performed on the 2008 BET Celebration of Gospel which aired in the states and in the UK and Africa. Hall says “What I enjoy most about my role is being able to give an opportunity and platform to voices and faces from all around the world that haven’t been heard and deserved to be heard and seen.  I enjoy exploring the differences and similarities between black cultures and creating ways to connect the dots via the powerful platform of Television.”

Prior to joining BET International, Hall was Vice President, Creative Services and Special Projects, for BET Networks.  In that role, she led a dedicated creative team in developing some of BET’s most visible on-air projects, including the highly rated special ROAD TO SUNDAY BEST, which preceded the hit gospel reality series. She oversaw the creative development of BET’s Black History Month on-air campaign “Be Inspired,” featuring celebrities from film, television and music; “Speak Now,” BET’s voter registration campaign; as well as several mega-special campaigns, including the award-winning BET AWARDS on-air campaigns “Award Show Etiquette” featuring hosts Steve Harvey and Cedric “The Entertainer,” and “Bigger is Better” featuring Monique. She also oversaw the creation and execution of special projects for BET Networks executive offices, digital media group, off-channel marketing, partnership marketing, integrated marketing, advertising sales and the BET Foundation.

Hall has held several senior-level creative positions at BET Networks, including Senior Director of Special Projects, On-Air Director and On-Air Manager. She simultaneously supervised creative teams in BET’s Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. offices, developing on-air promotion and planning strategies and creative packaging for each network program, as well as the execution of radio marketing campaigns. Hall   was an integral part of the creative team for the BET network re-launch in 1999.

Before joining BET Networks as a senior producer/director, Hall worked as a segment producer for “Not Just News,” an Emmy award-winning newsmagazine program on Fox Television, as well as an associate producer on Fox’s “America’s Most Wanted.” Concurrently, Hall was project manager for Convergent Media, where she programmed the Bell Atlantic Television network, as well as produced and directed commercials.

Hall 's work has been honored with several awards, including TELLY’s, New York TV & Film Festival awards, NAMIC Excellence awards, and an Emmy nomination.

Hall is a member of the National Center for Mission and Exploited Children African American Advisory Board, as well as a 2005 graduate from NAMIC’s Executive Leadership Development Program at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. She received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Central State University.
