Melody Tan leads strategy for
Content Distribution and Marketing and is responsible for developing Viacom Media
Networks’ sales and distribution initiatives.
With a deep understanding of
market trends, consumer and distributor needs, new technologies and new
platforms, she and her team lead the development and implementation of new
products and business models that VMN offers its various distribution partners. In addition, her team drives VMN’s position on
key strategic questions facing VMN and the overall media industry. These issues
include content windowing, TV Everywhere, and strategic partnerships.
Tan also oversees business
operations for CDM, including launch operations and
research. Prior to her work at Viacom, Tan worked as a growth strategy
consultant for Oliver Wyman in New York City.
Tan was recognized in Multichannel News’ “40 Under 40” in 2012,
awarded NAMIC’s Luminary Award in 2011, and included in CableFAX:The Magazine’s
“Most Influential Minorities in Cable” from 2009 to 2011. She received a
BA from Harvard College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
