As Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Viacom International Media Networks, Katherine Liu is responsible for building brands with global strength and local relevance and creating a common strategic vision across a business that spans 160 plus countries and more than 10 unique media brands. Liu's role includes operation and performance management in regional markets, leading cross-cultural efforts to build new global brands and products, and developing financial and strategic goals and operating plans for the overall organization, including a particular focus on the North and Southeast Asia regions and the Youth and Music genres.
Liu began working for Viacom in 2006 as Director of Strategy and Business Development. Prior to this, she worked in Hong Kong for the Business Development Group of STAR Television Ltd, focused on expanding STAR's multimedia presence throughout Greater China, India, and Southeast Asia, and lived in Beijing studying intensive Mandarin. She also worked in the Corporate Development department at News Corporation where she built analysis for the sale of the Fox Family Channels and the proposed acquisition of DirecTV. She began her career in the Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking Department at Merrill Lynch & Co.
Liu holds a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelors Degree from Georgetown University, and lives in Summit, New Jersey.
