Ann Hart is Vice President of Affiliate Sales at The Weather Channel. She was recently promoted to this position by senior management to heighten her leadership role within the company with greater responsibilities related to revenue and distribution and additional staff. A restructuring offered expansion of national account responsibilities for Time Warner, Cable, Cox Communications, Inc. and Advance-Newhouse. In a career that spans 16 years in the cable TV industry, Ms. Hart served in Affiliate Sales at The Weather Channel for the cable industry for 11½ years. Previously, as Vice President, National Promotions and Sales, Ms. Hart represented The Weather Channel at the top MSO corporate offices, with responsibility with the Marketing, On-Line Promotions, Public Affairs and Education key executives. Ms. Hart’s main role was to focus on mining all MSO platforms for cross channel opportunities, promotional partnerships and secure marketing participation from the top MSOs. A key success for Ms. Hart in 2004 was the CTAM Marketing Council Project for which she was recognized as a trusted authority to represent The Weather Channel to negotiate with CTAM and the top 10 MSOs. She successfully negotiated an industry-wide partnership for TWC and, for the first time in TWC history, secured a barter deal that provided The Weather Channel the opportunity to promote a TWC key programming initiative to over 55 million subscribers, which contributed to ratings success for the network. In 2003, Ms. Hart contributed over 75% of overall 2003 Media Exposure of $9 million for key programming initiatives “Storm Stories” and “Storm Week,” within the top 40 DMAs. In 2002, she contributed over 70% of overall 2002 Media Exposure of $8 million for “Storm Week” with the top 40 DMAs. As the key liaison between Affiliate Sales and Marketing, she worked closely with the Marketing department at The Weather Channel to develop strategic marketing plans for each MSO. She was responsible for establishing a criteria and value proposition for Affiliate Sales initiatives to ensure that the ROI meets TWC strategic business objectives. Before taking on the role of Vice President of National Promotions and Sales in September, 2002, her positions at The Weather Channel included Affiliate Sales Regional Vice President, National Account Director, Division Director and Senior Regional Manager, where she has consistently been recognized as one of the top sales performers and played a key role in the distribution of The Weather Channel and its digital service, Weatherscan, as well as the sell-in of national promotions. Before joining The Weather Channel, Ms. Hart served as an Account Executive for Cox CableRep and began her cable career as an Account Executive for United Video, representing Superstation WGN in 1988. She worked in the advertising business prior to her cable career. Ms. Hart received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University. Ms. Hart is active in professional organizations and is Director at Large, NY WICT Board: 2001-2004 and the 2003-2004 Atlanta Chapter for Cable Positive. She received the Programmer “Salute to the Stars” Award in 2003 from the Cable Television Association of Illinois. Other previous professional activities included: CTAM: 1998-2001 Mid-Atlantic Chapter Elected Board Member; NECTA – 1999-2002 Convention Committee Planning Board; CTAM of GA: 1996-1997 – Elected Board Member and 1997 Holiday Party Chairman; WICT National Management Conference: 1996 Team Winner “Most Realistic” Management Forum; and was Associate Director on the Board for GA Cable Television Association in 1993. Ms. Hart’s charitable work includes being a fundraising member for Children’s Health Care of Atlanta, 2002-2003; a fundraising volunteer for the Parkinson’s Research Foundation, 2000-2004; and a 19-year member of the Jr. League of Atlanta, Tulsa and New Orleans. She has been married for 11 years and has a 9-year-old son, Benjamin. Her hobbies include: children’s sports activities, tennis, watercolor painting, decorating, collecting antiques and travel.
