Aretta Baldon

Aretta Baldon is not your traditional media professional.  In fact, there is nothing traditional about Ms. Baldon.  She is as comfortable with a calculator as she is with a camera, exactly what is needed in today’s media environment that demands analytics and creativity.

Aretta is currently a Media Director with Turner Media Group, Turner Broadcasting’s in-house media team.  She is responsible for leading a team who creates “clutter-busting” communication strategies that promote Turner’s Entertainment Networks, and drive ratings.  Additionally, Aretta consults across all Turner properties (CNN, Turner Sports and Cartoon Network) to identify and execute multi-cultural marketing opportunities.

Prior to Turner, Aretta worked with WestWayne as a hybrid communications specialist.  By blending her media skills with brand strategy Aretta became WestWayne’s first (as well as one of the industry’s) media brand strategist.  While at WestWayne, she provided strategic direction for clients like SunTrust, Florida’s Natural and BellSouth.  “In her spare time,” she co-founded WestWayne’s pioneering BlackSheep, a multicultural division, demonstrating her commitment to diversity.

Ms. Baldon began her career at Leo Burnett USA (now Starcom Worldwide) in Chicago where she developed multi-media brand communications plans for Pillsbury, Rockport, Green Giant and Sealy; and, helped to develop the agency’s first African-American Media Day.

Aretta graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Minor in Economics from Spelman College in Atlanta.  She serves on the board of Roots Adoption Agency, volunteers with the Girl Scouts and is the proud mother of her daughter, Ariel.
