Barbara Nelms

Barbara Nelms is a passionate advocate for creating the industry’s future leaders. She works every day to foster a creative and inclusive environment for her team and peers. She is a creative technologist that takes her inquisitiveness and connections to problem solve with purpose and positivity. She uses her creativity and nerdy technical aptitude to bring value to her organization.

Barbara has been in the Telecommunications Industry since 2011, starting her career as an Executive Assistant at Bright House Networks in Tampa, FL. In her current role as a Sr. Program Manager, Mobile for Charter Communications, she oversees project deployment for non-customer facing projects and the release coordination of all the Company’s mobile features and functionality, including customer experience, Mobile App, 5G rate plans, and external and internal communications. She is also a SAFe Dev Ops certified agile advocate and is part of the team at Charter that is leading the company’s SAFe Agile Transformation within the Product and Technology teams. In her previous role at Charter, Barbara served as Lead PM for Wireless Technology Group for the launch of Spectrum Mobile as a new product line for Charter.

She joined Charter in 2017 through its acquisition of Bright House Networks, an MSO provider. There she worked with several teams including Software Development, Billing Operations, Procurement and Network Engineering. Prior to Bright House Networks, she was a project coordinator for the software development team at Virgin Mobile USA in San Ramon, CA for the CITO’s office.

Barbara was named The WICT Network: Rocky Mountain Chapter President for the 2021-2022 term. She has also held the office of Vice President, Board Operations Director and Director of Marketing & Communications. She has been involved in WICT since 2011. Her passion for developing future women leaders shines through her volunteer service. She co-hosts a weekly Ask Us Anything series to help other The WICT Network leaders with best practices for programming, board development, and so much more. In 2020, Barbara was selected by Charter to interview Stephanie Mitchko-Beale for the 2020 Grace Hopper Celebration as a featured session in their first ever virtual event.

As an alumnus of the University of South Florida, Barbara earned a Master’s in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and Marketing Strategy as well as an undergraduate degree in Public Communications. She holds a PMP certification, as well as, SAFe Practitioner and SAFe DevOps certifications.
Barbara currently resides in the Denver metro area with her husband and four amazing children: 2 girls and 2 boys.
