Carol Sussman

Carol Sussman is Director of Communications, Fundraising & Programming for The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles — a national nonprofit organization that addresses the greatest local and global challenges of Jewish life. As liaison among the Development, Programs, and Creative Services teams, she manages the creation, integration, and distribution of all content-related event materials and assets. Additionally, she provides input on marketing, brand strategy, web design and functionality, and other communications efforts to ensure the successful promotion and execution of events.

Prior to transitioning her career into the nonprofit sector in 2006, Carol spent two decades as a senior member of the television programming teams at MTV Networks, Fox Television, and the Disney/ABC Cable Networks. Specializing in new cable channel launches, she served as head of program acquisitions for the launch of Comedy Central, FX, and Fox Movie Channel, as well as the re-launch of DISNEY CHANNEL from a small-pay/general entertainment service reaching 10 million homes to a basic cable service that is now a major force in worldwide children’s entertainment.

As a leader in program acquisitions, her responsibilities included the negotiation for over $500 million in programming that encompassed movies, long form series, short form, and animation. She raised $50 million in international financing for original production and oversaw the creation and implementation of each network’s program acquisition strategy.

Carol has a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and is a member of the inaugural class of the WICT Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.
