Carolyn McDaniel has been director of employee communications at Comcast since July 2015. In her role leading internal communications 10,000 employees in the Central Division’s customer care function, Carolyn drives an innovative strategy, connecting employees to business goals and increasing engagement through a variety of communication channels, including video broadcasts, animated shorts and digital signage. In addition to communications, her team also administers knowledge management content in partnership with functional areas across the business. Carolyn has received three Telly Awards for video production and writing while at Comcast. She is also an active mentor and has been a WICT member since 2015.
Prior to joining Comcast, Carolyn drove both internal and external communications in both the private and public sector. She served as employee communications director at AGL Resources (now Southern Company), where she was instrumental in developing internal communications strategy. Prior to joining AGL Resources, she was director of internal and external communications at Oldcastle Materials, a leading supplier of construction materials and services. While at The Home Depot Store Support Center, Carolyn supported operational communications to more than 1,500 stores. She has also served as public information officer for the North Carolina Ferry Division, acting as an ombudsperson as well as a liaison with the Governor’s office.
A cumma sum laude graduate of Point Park University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications, Carolyn is pursuing her master’s degree in organizational leadership from Ashford University.
She and her husband reside in Marietta, Georgia.
