Catherine Frymark

​Catherine Frymark oversees corporate communications for Discovery, Inc. the world’s #1 pay-TV programmer, articulating the company’s business strategy on all matters, including mergers and acquisitions and all financial communications, as well as for the company’s U.S. business units, including Domestic Distribution, Advertising Sales, Digital Media and Consumer Products. She also oversees the company’s internal communications function and the corporate social media practice.

 

A 15-year Discovery veteran, Frymark serves as corporate spokesperson and leads scriptwriting, message development and press strategy for high-profile corporate activities including quarterly investor calls and presentations and the company’s yearly advertiser Upfront presentations. She also partners with network communications leads on business and trade media outreach.

 

In previous roles with the Discovery, Frymark managed all trade and business communications for Discovery’s U.S. networks division and program publicity for Discovery’s suite of emerging digital networks. She has created and executed communications strategies for corporate acquisitions and divestitures, and numerous network rebrands and launches. Among the accomplishments during her tenure at Discovery, she launched and led the company’s first centralized social media department and played an integral role in the communications rollout and press strategy for the January 2008 joint venture announcement of OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

 

Before joining Discovery, Frymark served as manager of communications for PG&E National Energy Group in Bethesda, Md., and previously served as public relations specialist for the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce, where she led all public relations activities for the INSIGHTS® Conference of World Leaders and the Chamber’s Public Policy division. She began her career in public relations at Capener, Matthews & Walcher Advertising & Public Relations in San Diego, Calif., where she managed accounts including Taylor Made Golf Women.

 

Among her industry affiliations, Frymark in a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) and serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Association of Cable Communicators, to which she was elected President in 2015. She was named PR Executive of the Year in 2015 by CableFAX Magazine; a “Top Woman in PR” by PR News in 2014; has been named to PRWeek’s “40 Under 40” list; and received a 2013 Touchstones of Leadership Award by the Washington, D.C./Baltimore Chapter of WICT.

 

Frymark earned her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University. She resides in Silver Spring, Md.​
