Celena Matlock is the Senior Director of Financial Compliance for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner Company. Turner Broadcasting creates and programs branded news; entertainment; animation and young adult; and sports media environments on television and other platforms for consumers around the world. An accomplished professional with over 15 years of combined experience in external audit, internal audit and financial compliance, Celena is responsible for the company’s domestic and international financial statement compliance function. Celena played a significant role in building Turner’s Financial Compliance department from the ground up. She has developed and implemented an approach, framework, and ongoing program of evaluating, improving and monitoring the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting that are still in use to date. Over the past year her role has expanded to include responsibility for pre-acquisition reviews, and internal control evaluations for certain collaborative arrangements that Turner Broadcasting enters into.
Prior to her role in Financial Compliance, Celena built her audit expertise between her roles within Time Warner’s Internal Audit department for the Turner division and Ernst & Young. During her tenure at both companies she was continually promoted for her significant accomplishments.
Celena has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Boston University. She is a certified public accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Internal Auditors. Celena has also been involved in numerous community activities, including serving as Past Board President for Dekalb County’s Boys & Girls Clubs, Board Member of Dekalb County’s Board of Transparency & Accountability, and fundraising for the Center for the Visually Impaired.
