Connie Wharton has served as Vice-President and General Manager for the Cox Communications West Texas System since 2000. In that capacity, Connie has P&L responsibility for 230,000 customers in 12 cities that include Lubbock, Midland, Amarillo, Abilene and San Angelo. The West Texas organization is currently involved in the launch of Cox Digital Phone. Connie’s team is the second Cox system to launch the new VOIP platform. Prior to assuming the GM role in West Texas, Connie served as Vice-President of Human Resources. Ms. Wharton began her first career with Texas Instruments, Incorporated. Throughout her career with TI, she served in numerous Human Resources positions. Her last position with TI was Vice-President, Corporate Staff, with worldwide responsibilities for the development and implementation of HR policies. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Connie currently serves as Chairperson of the Board of the Texas Cable and Telecommunications Association. Her two-year term ends in December. She also serves on several West Texas Boards including the Texas Tech Mass Communications Advisory Board and the Lubbock Reese AFB Redevelopment Authority Board. She is married to husband Larry, an attorney, and has two daughters.
