Darlene Chapman

Darlene Chapman is Vice President of Marketing for AmericanLife TV Network in Washington, D.C., managing both consumer and affiliate marketing, and working closely with Affiliate Sales on negotiations and promotion of the network.  In addition to building the creative strategy for the network, she oversees ad sales marketing, press, public relations and research for the brand  at AmericanLife TV Network.

Chapman began her professional career in 1987 as a copywriter at BSA Advertising.  She then moved to Black Entertainment Television where for 4 years she filled a variety of roles.  Thereafter, Chapman moved to Los Angeles where she was employed for 3 years as an Account Manager covering 24 states at the Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel.

Chapman moved to NYC in 1995 to begin a glorious career with  MTV Networks and worked as Account Director in the Eastern Region for 5 years. She was promoted to VP of Promotions Marketing for Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nick at Night in 1999 where she oversaw the on-air and off-air Promotions Marketing group and worked with National Ad Sales, Movie Marketing, Licensing, Home Video and Brand Marketing.

Moving back to DC in 2001, Chapman decided to go back to BET, and run the Marketing Department in Affiliate Sales overseeing all Affiliate Marketing and handling all Public Affairs initiatives.  She then moved onto AmericanLife TV Network in 2004. 

Chapman has shared her talents with several organizations including, The Executive Leadership Council, Emma Bowen Foundation, NAACP Act-So program, and the New Jersey Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center.  She has served twice as conference facilitator for the Women in Cable’s Management Leadership Conference.  She recently was chosen to participate in the Betsey Magness Leadership Program for class XV. through Women in Cable Telecommunications.  She has been a board member of Heartshare of NY, and is active with the youth and women’s ministries at her church.

Chapman earned a B.S. degree in Advertising and Marketing from the School of Journalism at the University of Maryland.

She lives with her husband, and their two daughters in Maryland.
