Dawn Simpson has worked in the telecommunications industry for twenty-six years, with her entire career being spent with CommScope. She began her career upon graduation from college in 1980 in the Accounting Department at CommScope, holding various positions within the company, i.e. personnel, customer service, marketing analyst, field sales, and now field sales management. In 1988, Dawn moved from the North Carolina corporate office to a field sales position in St. Louis, MO, to handle the Mid-West broadband accounts. Dawn was in St.Louis for about a year, and was asked to transfer to Denver, CO. In Denver, Dawn opened up a satellite sales/service office for CommScope when most of the MSO’s had corporate offices in the Denver Tech Center. Dawn has received numerous awards and recognitions in her career with CommScope for her contributions and achievements in Sales and Marketing.
Throughout Dawn’s career, she has been involved in professional associations, such as Women in Cable and the SCTE; both local and national chapters. Dawn has held officer positions within these organizations, and was instrumental in getting the WICT Rocky Mountain Chapter Membership to grow by more than 100%. Dawn stays active in the telecommunications professional associations and is currently a member of the national SCTE chapter. She is also a current member of the WICT Carolina, Virginia, Baltimore/DC, and New York chapters.
Dawn is a firm advocate of WICT, and feels it is a privilege to be chosen as a BMLI candidate. She feels that WICT provides a foundation to achieve the leadership and networking skills necessary to be successful in this unique and changing industry.
Dawn shares her personal time volunteering to the Big Sisters of America, Heritage Humane Society, and the Avon Women’s Shelter. Dawn feels it is very important to give back to the community you live in and support people that are less fortunate. She is an adamant animal lover and donates part of her time to no-kill animal adoption agencies.
In addition, Dawn raises money each year for MS and Relay for Life, two causes that have personally touched her life. Dawn not only helps organize local events, but she also sponsors and participates in teams to raise money for these causes.
Dawn enjoys golfing, hiking, reading, history, music and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoys splitting her precious spare time between the beach and the mountains.
