Heidi Newman, Senior Vice President, National Accounts, TV Networks Distribution, NBC Universal is responsible for securing the distribution of NBC Universal’s properties, including Bravo, Chiller, CNBC, CNBC World, MSNBC, mun2, NBC Weather Plus, Oxygen, SCI FI, ShopNBC, Sleuth, Telemundo, Universal HD, USA and the Olympics on cable. Newman is instrumental in negotiating agreements with Comcast for new and emerging platforms, video-on-demand (VOD) and broadband. She reports to Henry Ahn, Executive Vice President, TV Networks Distribution, NBC Universal. Most recently, Newman lead the Oxygen integration for the TV Networks Distribution group and completed a long-term agreement for mun2 resulting in 9 million new subscribers. During her time at NBC Universal, Newman has held several Affiliate Sales positions and has been instrumental in executing a number of affiliation agreements that have included retransmission consent, the Olympics, CNBC, MSNBC, ShopNBC, Telemundo, mun2, Bravo and Universal HD. She has worked in the Cable and Telecommunications industry since 1992 when she started her career at CNBC in Burbank. Newman is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) and on the board of Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) for the Philadelphia chapter and a member of the Washington-Baltimore chapter. She resides in Potomac Falls, VA with her husband Duffy and their three daughters, Taylor, Maggie and Ellie.
