Jana Bennett

​Jana Bennett joined A+E Networks as President, FYI and LMN channels in June 2013. In her role, Bennett oversees all creative and business matters including programming, marketing, strategic planning, brand development and acquisitions for two of the fastest growing networks in the A+E portfolio; FYI, which was rebranded from BIO on July 8, 2014; and LMN.

 

Prior to joining A+E Networks, Bennett was President, BBC Worldwide Networks & global BBC iPlayer at BBC Worldwide. Previously she was Director of BBC Television responsible for the BBC’s portfolio of six free to air channels in the UK. Under her leadership many award-winning and hit series were launched across all genres from factual, entertainment and scripted. These included, Planet Earth, Masterchef, Sherlock, Wallander, Doctor Who, World’s Worst Parents, Don’t Tell the Bride, and Strictly Come Dancing. While at BBC, Bennett determined the shape of BBC television and related online services and helped franchises like Top Gear become global franchises.

 

In her role at BBC Worldwide, the BBC’s commercial arm, she was responsible for 16 branded channels across 100 countries, reaching 380 million subscriber homes.  Under Jana the channels’ businesses became the company’s fastest growing division in terms of revenue.  She also launched the networks’ first global events such as Royal Wedding, London Calling and Planet Earth Live. In digital media, she led the development and launch of the subscription VOD service, BBC iPlayer in 16 overseas markets.

 

Bennett has been successful both in the UK and the US.  Bennett previously held the position of EVP/GM, TLC Network and Discovery Pictures. While at Discovery Communications she redefined and rebranded TLC network, launching hit series, Trading Spaces; What Not to Wear; Junkyard Wars; and Street Magic.
