Jennifer Chastain, Senior Manager of Affiliate Sales for NBC Universal TV Networks Distribution, is responsible for a multi-billion dollar content portfolio of sixteen cable networks (including USA Network, SCI FI channel, CNBC, MSNBC, Bravo and Oxygen) and the Olympics on cable. In this role, she oversees the Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Washington, DC accounts. Chastain covers major MSO’s regional and divisional offices in the area and manages all field accounts within the territory. She reports to Heather McCallion, Vice President, Eastern Region, TV Networks Distribution, NBC Universal.
Most recently, Chastain was instrumental in the launch and renewal of several NBC Universal cable services with key NCTC affiliates such as Comporium, Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC), and Baja Broadband. In addition, she acquired over 330,000 new, billable Enhanced Olympics subscribers for NBC Universal and executed new Olympic deals with three of the largest, outstanding non-Olympic NCTC affiliates. Chastain also secured the rollout of NBCU’s HD simulcast networks throughout her Region.
Previously, at Oxygen Media, Chastain was responsible for managing affiliate relationships with cable distributors and their local ad sales organizations within assigned territory. Chastain worked on the Time Warner Cable, Bresnan, RCN, US Cable and Service Electric accounts. She negotiated deals to secure and maximize distribution of Oxygen and Oxygen on Demand, as well as sold in Oxygen insertion to key local ad sales organizations. During this time, she was also responsible for training local ad sales Account Executives on how to position, package and price Oxygen to advertisers.
Chastain began her career with NBCU in December of 2007. Prior to NBC Universal, she worked for Oxygen Media as National Accounts Manager from 2005 – 2007, and as Affiliate Sales Coordinator from 2004 – 2005. Before making the move into the cable industry, she worked for a short period of time at Massachusetts General Hospital in Charlestown, MA doing research on Alzheimer’s disease.
Chastain is currently the Co-Chair of the NY Chapter of Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s AIDS action organization. Chastain is also serving her second year (2008/2009) as board member of the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) Carolinas Chapter. She is an active member of Cable & Telecommunications Association of Marketing (CTAM), and also a 2006 CTAM On Demand Case Study Award recipient.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Educational Studies, from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. She resides with her younger sister, Megan, in the West Village of NYC.
