Joy grew up as a performing artist in a suburb of Seattle, WA. She was a Dance major at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. After two years of college, she quit college to pursue ‘real life’. She hit the ground running when she moved to New York City over twenty years ago.  She has worn many ‘hats’ in a variety of different types of businesses, which has made her uniquely well-rounded as a creative artist and a business woman.

Immediately arriving in NYC, she co-founded a non-profit theater company, Performers At Work Theatre Company, Inc. The company developed new plays that were by, for, or about women, one being the Winner of the Samuel French One-Act Festival. As Managing Director and member of the company, she acted, produced, stage managed, fundraised, marketed, wrote grants, and ran the business operations.

She has produced shows with Women In Music, Inc such as Disco Divas with Gloria Gaynor and Sisters of the Sixties with Vicki Sue Robinson. She also assisted recording sessions for the biggest Broadway stars such as the legendary songwriting team, Kander and Ebb, actress, Sarah Jessica Parker, and many others at Westrax Recording Studio, as well as stage managed the award-winning pop-gospel group, The Jenny Burton Experience.

Currently, she performs improvisation as well as produces and performs on an all-female sketch team, Roller Snakes, in NYC. On top of performing, Joy regularly gives workshops, writes for various publications including Huff Post, and is regularly interviewed on various platforms such as Blog Talk Radio, iHeart Radio, and many others.

Outside of theater, Joy has worked in a number of different types of companies: a small, husband and wife clothing company doing trade shows; a family-owned high-end retail store; an athletic, membership club; and for one of the largest law firms in the world.

Joy is also a Dive Master, a professional scuba diver, with Pan Aqua Diving. For over four years, she was a Diver on the Volunteer Dive Team at the New York Aquarium. Previously, she was a volunteer phone operator and team leader for a suicide hotline for nearly 8 years; an American Red Cross Disaster Action Team Member; and a Teaching Volunteer in various halls and exhibits at the American Museum of Natural History.

Joy is excited to be the Founder and Primary Coach for JOY Prosperity Coaching, Inc. who helps professionals in technology, media & entertainment break through their barriers to reach a new level in their business!
