Judy McCool is Vice President, Legal Affairs at Home Box Office, Inc. (HBO). Judy is responsible for providing legal oversight and guidance in connection with advertising, branding and promotional campaigns for HBO and CINEMAX. In this capacity she is responsible for management of the company‘s global trademark portfolio, international licensing business, and marketing initiatives. Judy joined HBO as Senior Counsel in 2005 handling marketing and advertising matters. She was promoted to Vice President & Senior Counsel in 2009 with responsibility for trademarks and to her current role in 2012.
After graduating from law school, Judy began her legal career as an intellectual property associate at several international law firms before transitioning to in-house positions with Turner Broadcasting Systems and the consumer healthcare division of Pfizer, Inc.
Judy is active in the International Trademark Association (INTA), including serving on the In-House Counsel Committee and speaking on various panels. She is also a member of the Trademark Committee of the New York City Bar and Secretary of the Parent’s Association at her sons’ school.
Judy earned her B.A. at the University of Florida, where she participated in the undergraduate honors’ program. She earned her J.D., with distinction, from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, she was a winner of the national Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition in trademark law. She lives in New York City with her husband and two young sons.
