Karla Mpanga is the Senior Manager of Media Operations at A+E Networks. She leads the team responsible for overseeing delivery of all commercial and promotional media that is scheduled for broadcast across their nine networks. Developing effective solutions to ensure all content and formats meet A+E’s broadcast standards, Karla and her team collaborate daily with the scheduling teams, production groups, various vendors and ingest operators to ensure all scheduled programs as well as commercial and promotional elements are fulfilled for air. She manages live promotions as well as late media arrivals and schedule changes occurring close to airtime. She prides herself on reliability, forward thinking, and effective contingency planning.
Karla first joined A+E Networks after she earned her Bachelor of Arts from Quinnipiac University in 2006. Her previous experience includes being a Production Assistant intern at ESPN and Assistant Producer at a local public access channel, Skye Cable 13.
Karla left A+E for two years to pursue her Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. As a part of her thesis she wrote, directed, and edited a full-length film, Mile in My Shoes, that screened at the Reel Sisters Film Festival. It was in Cape Town that her passion of volunteering for underserved communities grew from a personal passion to a lifestyle.
She and her husband currently run their own non-profit organization, Value of One, which invests in underprivileged communities locally and across seven countries in Africa. She also serves on the board of Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County, which brings affordable arts and after school programs to her local Bridgeport community. She is the mother two “spirited” young children, ages 5 and 2.
