Katie Collins

Katie Collins is the Senior Director of Product Management for Voice Services for Charter Communications, the second largest cable telecommunications company in America providing Video, Internet and Voice under the branding of Charter Spectrum. During her time at Charter Communications, Collins has worked collaboratively with key leaders and stakeholders to drive the strategic vision, mission and product roadmap priorities supporting Voice services for 10M Residential and 820K Business Customers and growing.

 

Collins is a twenty plus year veteran of the telecommunications industry focused on product management, product development, capacity and network planning; network engineering and design. Katie demonstrates deep expertise is in managing large, complex, multi-faceted initiatives to deliver Charter Voice products and solutions to Spectrum Business customers and to increase revenue through innovation for Charter Communications. Katie has also worked for tw telecom, Level 3 Communications, Comcast, AT&T Broadband, TCI and US West Communications in roles spanning Product Management and Development, Regulatory, Operations Planning, Network Planning and Engineering. Katie’s deep Voice background began with the deployment of the first ever Cable Telephony technology for TCI/AT&T Broadband.

 

Outside of work, Collins currently serves as the Board Secretary for the Children’s Outreach Project. Founded in 1974 by a team of psychologists and early childhood education experts, Children’s Outreach Project is a dynamic therapeutic pre-school focused on ensuring working parents have access to safe, high-quality, and affordable child care that promotes their child’s school readiness – one of the best strategies for breaking the cycle of poverty. Collins also serves as the Board Secretary for the New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living which is a trans-denominational center focused on supporting the community through outreach programs such as the Season for Non-violence, Aurora Warms the Night, and the Gateway Battered Women’s Shelter.

 

Throughout her career, Collins has been passionate about the customer experience and consistently reminds her direct team and business stakeholders to put the customer first in key business decisions. She evangelizes the role of the Product Manager is to be the "guardian of the customer experience", and is one of the most important roles in the business. Like a "CEO of the product", the Product Manager must care about how the customer engages with the product from pre-sales to billing and beyond. Collins understands clearly that how well the business supports the customer using the product is as important as the product itself.

 

Collins received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical Specialty from the Colorado School of Mines and her Masters of Business Administration, focus on Business Strategy from the University of Colorado, Denver.

 

She resides in Aurora, CO with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending her free time with family in the US and her extended family in the UK as well as skiing in the winter, gardening in the spring and watersports in the summer.
