Kellie Appel is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Turner Trade Group, a division of Turner Broadcasting Sales. In this role, Kellie leads a team that negotiates transactions whereby advertisers use their goods and services to purchase incremental advertising on Turner’s domestic and international media outlets. Turner Trade Group then markets and sells the advertisers’ products at preferred pricing to Time Warner employees around the world, as well as their friends and families, using a variety of marketing and promotional activities to highlight each advertising partner.
Kellie has been in the media and entertainment industry for over 15 years. An attorney by training, she began her career with Turner in 1995 as in-house counsel for the entertainment division, focusing primarily on domestic and international syndication and worldwide programming acquisitions. In 1998 she moved to Turner’s corporate strategic planning group, where she helped lead teams responsible for evaluating new business opportunities for Turner, before moving to her current role in 2001. Prior to joining Turner, Kellie was with the Atlanta-based law firm of Long, Aldridge and Norman, practicing in the areas of bankruptcy litigation and financial restructurings.
Kellie is co-chair of the executive leadership team for Turner Women Today and also serves as a mentor in the Circle Mentoring program. She is a member of the national Women in Cable and Telecommunications organization as well as the Atlanta chapter. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Mercer University and is an active member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
Kellie received her B.A. degree from Mercer University (magna cum laude) and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. She lives in Atlanta with her husband, Evan, and their two young daughters, Allie and Carly.
