Kenley Smith is the manager of consumer marketing for HGTV, where she’s responsible for marketing tactics and cross promotion initiatives for the network’s priority programming. Working closely with programming, promotion strategy, affiliate, online and research departments, Kenley works to ensure that the network’s priorities garner high participation and ratings. In addition, she manages the execution of multiplatform opportunities and provides assistance with interactive media buying and social media efforts. Cause marketing outreach is a key initiative for Kenley as well, as she leads the efforts to promote and maintain the positive corporate image of the HGTV brand.
Kenley has been part of Scripps Networks for over seven years. She began her career as an affiliate marketing manager and moved into consumer marketing in 2007.
A member of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), Kenley has played an integral role in the development of WICT programming events in Knoxville, Tennessee. She helps plan and execute the WICT/UT Mentoring Experience and has served on the planning committee for the 2009 Taste of WICT. Additionally, she assisted with the planning for the 2010 Speed Mentoring Breakfast. Most recently, Kenley was elected to the WICT Southeast Board as director of membership.
Outside of the industry, Kenley prioritizes community service as a member and committee chair with the Junior League of Knoxville. She also serves as a class volunteer for HALT – Humans and Animals Learning Together, an organization that provides therapeutic intervention for at-risk adolescents through dog obedience training.
Kenley is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications. She lives in Knoxville with her cat, Lonnie, and enjoys horseback riding, boating, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
