Kristen Yu-Um

She began her career as a summer intern in the Creative Resources Department and has grown with the company over the past 10 years.

 

As a Junior Copywriter, she managed properties including network hits Drake and Josh, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Korra. She was also responsible for overseeing the entire TEENick portfolio including the network’s priority properties iCarly, Victorious, and Big Time Rush.
 
In her current role as an Editorial Director, Kristen has an in-depth knowledge of Nickelodeon properties and plays a critical role in maintaining the quality, integrity and relevance of property content and characters as they translate from on-air into consumer products. She played an integral role in the highly anticipated launch of the wildly popular franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which in 2013 won Boy Toy of the Year, and continues to help drive the success of evergreen and classic brands varying from Rugrats to SpongeBob SquarePants.

 

Kristen’s writing experience covers a broad spectrum ranging from marketing and advertising copy to apparel, toys, publishing, interactive and packaged goods. In addition, she works closely with upper management and production executives in the development of creative strategies.

 

Kristen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Journalism from SUNY Geneseo. In her spare time, she enjoys being with family, especially with her husband and their 7-month-old baby boy. She is crazy about cupcakes whether it be baking, decorating or eating them, and also loves running, and has completed four marathons to date.
