Lauren Monks

Lauren Monks is the Vice President of TV Networks Distribution for NBCUniversal, where serves as the strategic affiliate marketing brand lead for Telemundo and mun2. Additionally, Monks is charged with several distribution and sales objectives in support of corporate marketing negotiations.

Monks joined NBCUniversal from Comcast Networks, where she served as Vice President, Sales Strategy/Affiliate Marketing since 2009. There, she led department-wide marketing strategies and served as key marketing liaison to all Comcast Networks and corporate MSO marketing teams. While there, Monks launched several priority initiatives, including  “On the Greens and Behind the Scenes,” a first of its kind STEM education initiative in partnership with Golf Channel and Time Warner “Connecting a Million Minds” initiative. Prior to this, Monks held several positions of increasing responsibility at PBS KIDS Sprout from 2006 through 2009, culminating in her role as VP, Marketing, for the premier children’s programming network.  There, she developed Sprout’s first consumer-targeted campaign to drive distribution, “Sprout Please!” and conceived Sprout’s first pro-social initiative, The Great Sprout Tuck-In, in partnership with the Pajama Program.

Prior to joining PBS KIDS Sprout, Monks served as the National Director, Distribution Marketing for Discovery Networks in Silver Spring, MD. During her 10 years at Discovery, she held a leadership role in developing marketing strategies to secure long-term agreements with the country’s top ten cable, satellite and alternative technology distributors and she built value for 16 domestic networks through strategic marketing partnerships and national and divisional sales plans. Monks began her career as a project manager for Discovery’s internal creative resources team.

Monks has attended CTAM University at Harvard Business School, Women in Cable Telecommunications’ Executive Development Seminar and has served as a facilitator for the WICT Forum. She is a graduate of Comcast’s Executive Leadership Forum and also holds memberships with the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing and Association of Cable Communicators. 

Monks is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State. She currently resides in Manhattan.
