Lionel Shockness

Lionel
Shockness is an executive coach with deep expertise in diversity and
cross-cultural relationships. He works with business leaders to enhance their
repertoire of leadership and management competencies by building on their core
strengths and helping them see the impact of their actions on others and on the
organization.

 

Drawing upon knowledge of
organizational psychology and his 19 years of experience as a clinically
trained group psychotherapist and adjunct, Lionel supports his client
organizations’ success by increasing their leaders’ and managers’ emotional
intelligence and strengthening their ability to build strong and effective
teams.

 

For the past 15 years, Lionel has
trained and coached individuals and teams across diverse industries in
organizations such as Hewlett-Packard, JPMorgan Chase, the U.S. Department of
Defense, The Brennan Center for Justice, The New School, Accenture, American
Express, Essence magazine, Sony, MTV Networks, Morgan Stanley, Merrill
Lynch, Yahoo!, Electronic Arts, and the Girl Scouts of the United States of
America.

 

Lionel has presented at the
Conference Board’s Annual Diversity Conference, Essence magazine’s
annual “Women Who Are Shaping the World Leadership Summit,” The New York Urban
League Young Executive forum, and the Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit.

 

Lionel holds an MSW from Yeshiva
University and a BA in psychology from SUNY Empire State College. He also holds
certificates in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy from the Center for Modern
Psychoanalytic Studies and the Institute for the Study of Culture and
Ethnicity, respectively.
