Liz Wheeler

Liz Wheeler is an attorney at UP Entertainment, LLC who is primarily responsible for supporting the development and production of scripted series and the acquisition of films and series for the UP network. In addition, she works extensively with the network’s digital and marketing teams, and handles litigation matters and UP’s domestic and international trademark portfolio. Previously counsel at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., Liz began her legal career as an associate with an Atlanta-based entertainment and intellectual property boutique, counseling clients on general copyright and trademark matters, as well as recording contracts, literary publishing agreements, film and television production deals, consignment and commission agreements for visual artists, and pre-publication clearance.

 

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Business from Middle Tennessee State University, Liz began working with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and her interest in entertainment and intellectual property law grew. She attended the University of Georgia Law School and worked with Georgia Lawyers for the Arts (a non-profit organization offering pro bono legal services to low income artists), where she continues to volunteer frequently. Liz is also the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for BurnAWAY, Inc., and is a member of the Executive Council of the Entertainment and Sports Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
