Mari Belalcazar

Mari Belalcazar is the Director, Marketing Partnerships for National Geographic Channel.  In this role she is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing partnerships with companies inside and outside of News Corporation to drive ratings and revenue.  During her 2 year tenure with NGC, she has fostered mutually beneficial partnerships with FOX Broadcasting Company, Twentieth Century FOX, FOX Digital Media, Pottery Barn Kids, Sony/Columbia Records and others.   Additionally, she is responsible for developing ad sales marketing solutions to strengthen relationships with domestic and international advertising partners and help ensure repeat business.

Prior to National Geographic Channel, Belalcazar held Marketing and Business Development positions at The Travel Channel and Discovery Education.  At Travel Channel, she launched Travel Channel Academy, a new business venture designed to build a robust short form video library by teaching the public travel video journalism, and also led the company into the new frontier of multi-platform content distribution across platforms such as iTunes, Netflix, Comcast XFINITY and Verizon V CAST.  At Discovery Education, she launched two new online subscription video services that put video content at teachers’ fingertips so that they could effectively use multi-media content to connect with 21st Century students. 

Belalcazar began her career at GSD&M’s Idea City, a full service Omnicom advertising/marketing agency, where over the course of 7 years she held account management roles and was responsible for helping Fortune 500 clients such as SAM’s Club and Dial Corporation craft brand identities, launch new products, and develop plans to curb sluggish sales. 

Belalcazar holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from The University of Texas at Austin.  Originally from Austin, Texas, she resides in Washington, DC with her husband.
