Maria Soares-Huff

As a Senior Coordinating Producer for ESPN International/Deportes, Maria Soares-Huff oversees all of the event programming for the International networks and ESPN Deportes. This programming airs across more than ten ESPN networks, and is produced in Spanish and English language.  Maria supervises a production team in Bristol and has day to day interaction with the ESPN production facilities around the world.  These other offices produce TV content under her direction, and then the programming is sent to Bristol for network distribution.

Maria has been with ESPN since 1992, after she had just graduated from college.  She was hired to work on a new ESPN Portuguese language network that was launching out of Bristol, Connecticut for distribution in Brazil.  Since this time, she has been instrumental in launching more than ten international and domestic ESPN networks across the globe. 

Since her start with ESPN, she has worked her way through several different production and management roles.  Her notable production credits include the Home Run Derby in 2000 to mark the launch of ESPN Deportes, the first ever Spanish language coverage of the Summer X Games, The Pan Am Games from Rio de Janeiro, and numerous other Superbowls, grand slams and major sporting events.  

Maria serves as a mentor in the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) organization, as well as the ESPN mentor/mentee program. She has received numerous Telly Awards for her work through the years.

Maria received her B.A. degree from Emerson College (cum laude), where she studied Broadcast Journalism.  She resides with her husband and two children in Southington, CT.
