Mariela Azcuy

Mariela has nearly 20 years’ experience in the media industry specifically focused on Marketing and Public Relations. She has worked at media companies and PR agencies helping shape messages, promote ideas and execute strategic campaigns that create change and drive business. She’s also worked closely with growth consumer segments throughout her career with a focus on Hispanic audiences.

Since August of 2016, Mariela has led a B2B marketing team that supports the Content Distribution and Enterprise Development business goals at UCI. She’s responsible for increasing demand for UCI content, promoting UCI’s thought leadership and developing the tools and materials that help the teams sell better faster. She’s been with UCI since 2010, when she was hired as a director to start the Ad Sales Marketing Department at UCI, and launched franchises including the Hispanic 411 client education webinar series and the Sales Toolkit.

 

Prior to UCI, Mariela worked on the Corporate Communications team at Meredith Corporation overseeing the trade and consumer PR for magazine brands including Ladies’ Home Journal, More and Siempre Mujer. She also focused on magazine PR at Four Corners Communications (The Hollywood Reporter, Adweek, Blender, Latina, etc). Mariela started her career in the Corporate Division at Edelman Public Relations New York headquarters specializing in global brands like Samsung and UPS. Over her 12 years in PR she secured coverage in outlets including the NY Times, WSJ, NPR, Today Show, USA Today, AP and more, and helped build events, programs and partnerships that showcased the brands’ expertise and grew readership.

 

At UCI, Mariela completed the Women’s Leadership Experience with the Alchemy Group and graduated from the Women’s Leadership Academy in partnership with Smith College. She is the NY co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Council, and was also part of the team that won a 2017 ANA Business Marketing Award of Excellence for the Leading the Change thought leadership client event and an OMMA Award for Best B2B website in 2014.

 

She is a member of the Business Marketing Association, WICT and NAMIC and lives in Brooklyn with her husband David and beagle mix Cleo.
