Martha Soehren

Martha Soehren serves as Chief Talent Development Officer and Senior Vice President of Comcast University for Comcast Cable Communications, LLC. Prior to joining Comcast in 2000, Martha spent 25 years with the Defense Industry and 13 years as an adjunct professor and research advisor in higher education. She has a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, and an MBA. 


In addition to her learning and development experience, Martha is experienced as a human resources director, efficiency expert, manpower staffing and standards analyst, Total Quality Management lecturer and consultant, and academic advisor. She serves as a guest presenter on the topics of leadership, team building, management, learning and development, and career development for audiences across industries. Martha completed research on the skills needed for leaders to be effective in the workplace and how those skills are best acquired and developed.


Martha serves as a guest faculty to the Doctorate of Learning Program for the GSE/Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is the past Chair of the Board of Directors for Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT). She serves on the Board Selection Committee for the Association of Talent Development’s (ATD), was the 2014 Chair of the ATD Board, and is a member of the Chief Talent Development Officer Board of the ATD.


Martha serves as a Learning and Development expert to the Board of Directors for the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), and on two advisory boards working to close the skills gap between higher education and the business world – the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, and the University of Pennsylvania Liberal and Professional Studies. Additionally, Martha is a Learning Leader with the Elliott Masie Consortium.  


Martha is the 2017 recipient of the Catalyst Award and was previously awarded the Liberty Leadership Award, both presented by the Philadelphia Chapter of WICT. She is also a Multi-Channel News Woman to Watch award winner, has been named one of CableFax’s Most Powerful Woman in Cable multiple times, and received the Learning Spotlight Award from The Masie Center in 2012. She received the 2017 Chairman’s Award from the Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers.


Martha is an Executive Champion for the Comcast Veteran’s Employee Resource Group. She was recently recognized for her lifetime support for the military community when WICT established the Martha Soehren Women Veterans Fellowship in her honor. This fellowship is awarded annually to support career development and advancement for high potential women veterans.
