Most recently, Mary Murano was Executive Vice President, TV Networks Distribution, where she supervised NBCUniversal’s field sales team and was responsible for the distribution of a multi-billion dollar content portfolio of 16 cable networks (including USA Network, Syfy, CNBC, MSNBC, Bravo and Oyxgen) and the Olympics on cable. In this role, Murano led the regional sales group in developing sales strategies, completing distribution agreements and creating strong marketing partnerships with cable affiliates. Murano reported to Bridget Baker, President, TV Networks Distribution.
Murano played a key role in the distribution of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games–delivering more than 3,600 hours of the most robust Olympic viewing experience in history to cable, satellite and telco customers with services that included video on demand (VOD), HD and broadband.
Murano joined NBCUniversal with the Oxygen Media acquisition in January 2008. In her prior role as President of Distribution for the women’s network, Murano was responsible for the distribution of Oxygen television network and digital content. Instrumental in developing Oxygen’s distribution strategy and managing the affiliate sales and interactive distribution departments, Murano secured commitments with major video distributors and built relationships with all major cable and satellite operators resulting in the growth of Oxygen’s subscriber base to over 74 million. In addition, she expanded Oxygen’s presence on wireless, broadband, video-on-demand (VOD) and other digital platforms.
Prior, Murano was the chief executive in charge of all areas of distribution and affiliate marketing for Rainbow Media, where she worked with allied distributors in the marketing and promotion of the channel’s product.
In addition to her work professionally, Murano is a member of Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and a National Board member of Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT). She also serves as Senior Advisor to the WICT NY Chapter.
Murano graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, with a degree in sociology. She is a member of Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT). She currently resides in New York with her husband and son.
