As Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Beltway Region, Mary McLaughlin leads multidisciplinary teams of more than 5,000 employees focused on transforming the customer experience and delivering Comcast’s best-in-class products to more than two million customers in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., as well as parts of Delaware, North Carolina and West Virginia.
Ms. McLaughlin joined Comcast in 2006 as Area Vice President for New Hampshire and was later named Area Vice President for the Greater Boston South operating area. She has also served as Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Western New England Region.
Prior to transitioning to the telecommunications industry more than 20 years ago, Ms. McLaughlin served as Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General, specializing in consumer protection. She went on to hold numerous public affairs, public policy and operational leadership positions in telecom companies throughout the Northeast.
Ms. McLaughlin’s efforts have always extended beyond the workplace and into the community — she is on the University of Maryland Medical Center Board of Directors and the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) Global Board of Directors. Before joining Comcast’s Beltway Region, she was co-chair and member of the Board of Directors of the Governor’s Prevention Partnership in Connecticut. She also served on the Vermont Business Roundtable and the Board of Directors for Connecticut Public Television.
Throughout her career, Ms. McLaughlin has received a number of accolades for her leadership and the inspiring example she sets for others. She most recently was nationally recognized as the "Multiple System Operators (MSO) Regional Executive of Year" as part of Cablefax: The Magazine‘s 2018 Top Operators Issue. She was also listed as one of the 2016 "Women to Watch" by Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) and received "The Fearless Award" from the DC/Baltimore Chapter of WICT. She was recognized as a "Women in Business" honoree by the Hartford Business Journal in 2013 and a "Visionary Woman of Excellence" by Unity First in 2012. Acknowledging the admiration she has earned as a leader in the industry, Cablefax: The Magazine also named Ms. McLaughlin a "Top Regional Player" in the publications’ annual "The 100" top power players list each year from 2011 to 2018 and one of the "Most Powerful Women in Cable" in 2008, 2014, 2016 and 2017. The New England Chapter of WICT also honored her in 2013 with the "Career Achievement" award and in 2009 with the "Industry Leader of the Year" award.
Ms. McLaughlin graduated from Bridgewater State College and Suffolk University Law School in Massachusetts. She and her husband have two children and reside in Annapolis.
