Melissa Buscher

As
part of the Time Warner Cable Communications Strategy team, Melissa ensures
consistent and integrated messaging and communications with all audiences.  With more than 48,000 employees and 15
million residential video and commercial, high-speed data, digital phone and
wireless customers,  she is responsible
for developing and driving forward companywide communications campaigns and
programs that support Time Warner Cable business, in addition to ensuring that
communications is an integral player in companywide initiatives developed by
other departments. 


Prior to her current role,
Melissa was the Vice President of Communications in the Carolinas where she
oversaw strategic planning and management of public relations, community
affairs and employee communications for Time Warner Cable operations in North
Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Virginia. 
Melissa was charged with coordinating efforts among regional departments
and local operations to ensure consistency in its messaging to the media,
customers and employees. She also oversaw Time Warner Cable’s philanthropic
initiative, Connect a Million Minds, which focuses on engaging students in STEM
(science, technology, engineering and math). 
Before that, Melissa was the Director
of Media Relations for Time Warner Cable in North and South Carolina.

Before her move to Time
Warner Cable in 2008, Melissa was an award winning television reporter for 15
years.  Her last 10 years were spent at WRAL-TV in Raleigh, NC.   In that position, she covered too many hurricanes
to name, interviewed governors, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and
Secretary of State Colin Powell to name a few. 
She also covered numerous presidential visits.  Along the way, she experienced a lot of fun
reporting too…most notably flying with the Thunderbirds.

 

She is a recipient of several
industry awards to include the 2011 Women In Cable Telecommunications (WICT)
Excellence Award and Association of Cable Communicators Beacon Awards in the
categories of Community Relations, Events & Observances, Integrated
Communications and Social Media.  Melissa
serves on the boards of the Wake Education Partnership, North Carolina Science
Olympiad and Women in Cable Telecommunications.

 

A native of Massachusetts,
Melissa attended the University of Miami and graduated with a double degree in
Economics and Broadcast Journalism. 

 

Melissa, her husband and two children live in Raleigh,
NC.
