Michelle Proctor Rogers is Vice President and
Associate General Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs at BET Networks. Michelle oversees and provides guidance on content
rights and clearances for BET and CENTRIC’s production and distribution
of original and licensed programming. In this capacity, she is responsible for media
licensing and music reporting. In addition, Michelle is responsible for the management
of all legal matters in connection with the production of the BET Experience.
Michelle
joined BET in 1997 as Manager of Business Affairs, handling business development and production matters. She has held many roles and titles of
promotion including Director of Business Affairs and Assistant General Counsel
directing Standards and Practices for the company. She was promoted to Senior Associate General
Counsel in 2012 with responsibility for content rights and to her current role
in 2013.
Michelle Rogers, a member of the Maryland Bar, is a
graduate of the University of Maryland Law School where she was awarded “Best
Moot Court Oral Advocate”. After
receiving an academic scholarship to Spelman College for her undergraduate degree,
Michelle also received the Bertie award for “Best Lead Actress” in Atlanta
theatre. Michelle also holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Pittsburgh
where she received a teaching fellowship.
In addition, she is a certified empowerment life coach. Michelle is a member of BESLA, NAMIC and the
National Bar Association. She is on the
advisory board of Cultural Communications, a not for profit organization
committed to nurturing teenagers in the Washington, DC area. Michelle is also a reading mentor with
Everybody Wins!
She currently lives in Washington, DC with her
husband and two children.
