VP, Charlotte Office & Production Management, ESPN
Miranda Thorpe is the Vice President, Charlotte Office & Production Management at ESPN. Miranda leads the executive and culture carrier for all employees within the Charlotte office. She provides strategic support to senior leaders for cross-unit transparency, business alignment and integration, priority setting and other leadership functions. Miranda is also responsible for overseeing the Production Management team, a group of nearly 50 people based in four states. The unit supports the content leaders on more than 90 domestic and international events such as College Football Playoffs, SportsCenter, College GameDay, US Open Tennis, and NFL Draft. The team manages budgets, credentials, contracts, and staff assignments.
In Thorpe’s’ 24 years at ESPN through her strategic role, she has coordinated the planning, logistics, and infrastructure onsite for various high-profile events such as, 2010 South Africa World Cup, 2011 Women’s Germany World Cup, 2014 Brazil World Cup, Super Bowls, NBA Finals, and World Series. Throughout her tenure at ESPN, she has won four Sports Emmy Awards from her work on “World Cup”, “Sports Center”, and “Baseball Tonight”.
Thorpe joined ESPN in March 2000 as an Assignment Editor and was promoted to Associate Producer in 2002. In 2004, she moved into the role of Production Coordinator and was elevated to Sr. Production Coordinator in 2005, Production Manager is 2007, Director of Production Coordinator in 2008, Coordinating Producer in 2011, in 2012 Sr. Director of Production Management and Vice President in 2022.
Thorpe is a graduate of the Women in Cable Telecommunications Betsy Magness Leadership Institute and NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program.
Thorpe graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism. She is married and in her free time loves to travel and spend time with family.
