Rita M. Brown joined Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises, Inc. (“CTE”) in 1973, and her experience in telecommunications spans over 30 years in a variety of residential and business operational roles. Her extensive experience includes nearly all aspects of telephony, including network operations and network planning, outside plant engineering and construction, customer service, support services, sales, and labor relations.
In her current position of regional president, commercial services at Time Warner Cable, Ms. Brown provides leadership to drive commercial business results with a focus on sales and service performance for the Northeast and National Region, which is comprised of the New York divisions of Buffalo/Rochester, Syracuse/Binghamton, and Albany, as well as Portland, ME; and the National operation including Kansas City, KS, Lincoln, NE and Denver, CO.
Prior to joining Time Warner Cable, Ms. Brown was chief operating officer of Cleartel Communications, a CLEC in Delray Beach, FL. And prior to that held a variety senior-level positions at Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises, including senior vice president and general manager of the CTSI, LLC, CTE’s competitive local exchange company; vice president and general manager of epix™ Internet Services, and vice president and general manager of Commonwealth Communications, an integrated voice and data services division.
Ms. Brown is a member of the board of directors of CoBank, a multi-billion dollar cooperative bank specializing in commercial lending to agribusiness; communications, energy and water systems; and agricultural export financing predominately for rural businesses throughout the United States. She is past director of the Luzerne County Headstart board, the Family Services board, and the Blue Cross Board Advisory Committee. Ms. Brown has been recognized for two distinguished awards. First, she was named an award recipient as one of the Top 25 Women in Business in NE Pennsylvania. In addition she was a Woman of Distinction award recipient. Both awards were received in 2006.
Ms. Brown holds a degree in business administration from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
