Severn Sandt

Severn Sandt oversees operations for ESPN’s coverage of the Winter and Summer X Games as well as horse racing events including the Belmont Stakes and the Breeder’s Cup.  In this role she leads teams of professionals in conceiving and carrying out the financial, technical, and logistical plans for the coverage of each event.  From creating the budgets to hiring crews, arranging for trucks and negotiating for equipment and services, her team provides the backbone for the coverage we see on television.  Prior to joining ESPN in 2008, Severn held the post of Production Executive at ABC Sports where she handled PGA Tour golf, USFSA and ISU Figure Skating, and numerous pre-game and halftime shows for college football games and two Super Bowls.  Over the past 9 years, the productions Severn has worked on have earned 8 Emmy Award nominations.

Prior to her time in sports television operations, Severn held a variety of production positions at ABC News including Coordinating Producer of the documentary series Hopkins 24/7 and support roles at The Century with Peter Jennings and PrimeTime Live with Diane Sawyer and Sam Donaldson.  Prior to that she was an associate in a theatrical production company in New York and Boston.

Severn Sandt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Management from Boston University.  She serves on the board of the West Hartford Newcomers Association.  For 13 years prior to relocating to Connecticut to join ESPN, she volunteered with children living in the city’s shelters through New York Cares.
