After graduating from Wellesley College with a degree in German Language and Literature, Sowon cut her teeth at two boutique children’s television companies and then joined the Nickelodeon Programming/Acquisitions team in 2004. Her responsibilities and skills grew over the years, as did the number of networks she was planning and scheduling. She started out working solely on Nicktoons, a 24-hour boy-targeted animation channel. Soon, the teen-focused TeenNick channel was added, and today she also leads the Programming strategy and scheduling efforts for the Nick Jr pre-school channel, which is home to a nightly mom-targeted block in the later hours. Within her expanded role, she is using her passion for Television and Programming Strategy to bring a unique branded viewing experience to the whole family through the different platforms.
She is a member of several employee affinity groups at Viacom and NAMIC, and is now proud to be participating in WICT. Sowon is a dedicated mom to two great kids, loves to eat and travel, and would be happy to converse with you in her other languages – Korean, German and (to a lesser degree) Spanish.
