Tammy Smith is the Senior Research Director for Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader in Outdoor TV. Smith joined Outdoor Channel in 2005 and working alongside the network’s first Director of Research, has played an integral part in building the media research department from the ground up. In her current role as Senior Director of Research, Smith is responsible for painting a holistic picture of the network’s viewer and adjusting this picture in order to target distinct audiences like the advertising, consumer and affiliate communities.
In 2007, Smith supported an aggressive rebranding of the network, successfully repositioning Outdoor Channel as the leader in the outdoor genre and in 2009 implemented Outdoor Channel’s first ever Online Research Panel – a panel of 3k+ members whose feedback has been instrumental in linking the network to the voice of the viewer.
Smith holds a B.S. in Communications/Advertising from Brigham Young University. She is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunication (WICT), volunteers for Boy Scouts of America and Rancho Damacitas, a foster care center for disadvantaged youth. She and her husband live in Oceanside, CA – as a researcher at heart, she has found the ocean to be the only true cure for stress.
