Vanessa Chandis has been with NBCUniversal Content Distribution for 5 years, currently in the role of Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs. She is lead legal counsel for the distribution of NBCUniversal’s content with several key cable and telco partners as well as vMVPDs.
In this role, Vanessa negotiates, drafts, analyzes, and enforces agreements for the distribution of NBCUniversal’s diverse portfolio of NBC and Telemundo broadcast stations, cable networks, regional sports networks, and the Olympics. Vanessa is also responsible for providing legal counsel and support to NBC Sports’ networks, including its regional sports networks, and tentpole events.
Most recently, Vanessa successfully executed numerous distribution deals for carriage of the new NBC Sports Chicago and renewals for carriage of SNY. In addition, she provided extensive counsel on distribution, digital and marketing issues in preparation for Tokyo 2020.
Prior to joining NBCU, Vanessa was an Associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in the firm’s complex commercial litigation group. Her practice involved all aspects of litigation, including two federal trials and appeals, mediation, antitrust criminal investigations, and counseling of matters. While at Weil, in 2013, Vanessa was seconded to the intellectual property legal group at Panasonic Corporation in Osaka, Japan. Vanessa also served as a term law clerk for the Honorable Judge Joel A. Pisano, United States District Court of New Jersey.
Vanessa graduated from Brown University in 2002 with a degree in political science, and received her JD and Master’s in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Outside of the office, Vanessa enjoys sports and travel.
