Vianni Luhrsen is the Manager of Programming at HBO in New York. Her job is to develop and oversee original programming, focusing on stand-up comedy and late-night series & specials. In this role, she works closely with her VP to manage every aspect of her shows from development to premiere and beyond. In the past year of working remotely, she helped launch shows like Painting with John and Between The World And Me. Some of her recent returning series include High Maintenance, Real Time with Bill Maher, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Before shutdown, Vianni could often be found taking notes in the back of comedy clubs, scouting for stand-ups.
Originally from Los Angeles, Vianni moved to New York to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She majored in Cinema Studies and minored in Producing – basically, she watched a lot of movies and TV. During her senior year, she somehow landed a dream internship with HBO, where she’s remained for the past 10+ years.
Outside of work, Vianni is an avid volleyball player – she played indoor volleyball every week until shutdown and spent the summer alternating between beach courts and grass courts in Prospect Park (a first!) As soon as she can start traveling again, she can’t wait to visit her mom in LA and go to a Lakers game.
She lives in Brooklyn with her partner and their cat.
