 Penny Grandon, a native of Phoenix, is a successful accomplished Operational Leader with extensive telecommunications experience and people management skills.   Currently working for Cox Communications since 1997, the company provides leading-edge technology solutions and products for business and residential customers.  As the Southwest Region Senior Manager of the largest Technical Facilities group in the Cox Communications footprint, Penny is responsible for leading a department  consisting of five (5) supervisors, one (1) Network Engineer, and 53 front line employees supporting all Cox Business and Residential telecommunications products offered within 24 sites and 20 tower locations.

 

Penny began her career in the telecom industry by working for two (2) years as an intern with US West Communications (currently Century Link), at which point she obtained the role of Engineering Assistant with Sub-Tronics; a contractor for US West Communications that engineered and installed equipment in the company's central offices.  Her six (6) years in the role of Engineering Assistant led her to the role of Supervisor of technicians.  She graduated from ASU with her Bachelors degree and was contracted in 1997 with Cox Communications, which led to an official position within the organization after 10 months.  Penny spent three (3) years as Engineering Manager of Technical Facilities, promoted to the Phoenix Engineering and Operations Manager of Technical Facilities for six (6) years, and then promoted to the Arizona Operations Manager for Technical Facilities for five (5) years, which eventually led to her current role as Senior Manager Technical Facilities for the Southwest Region.  Penny has a solid record of producing results and is known for her competitive style, strong leadership skills and creative approach for finding operational efficiencies.

 

Penny is Vice President of the WICT Southwest Chapter.  She is Co-Cable chair of the AZ State Emergency Communications committee, member of the AZ Amber Alert committee, the Technology Technical Facility Standards and Compliance committee for Cox Communications, and SCTE.  Penny is a mother of two successful young adults and has a granddaughter that she enjoys spending time with.  In her spare time Penny loves to travel to watch her daughter play college basketball.

 

Penny was awarded the 2017 4th Annual Las Vegas Women in Technology Award for High Tech Woman "Mentor" by the Las Vegas Community Tech Fund.
