WICT Announces 2014 Board of Directors

 

 

Washington, DC - Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) today announced the members of the 2014 WICT Board of Directors. Mary Meduski, EVP & CFO, Suddenlink Communications, enters the second year of her two-year term as Chair. Martha Soehren, Chief Talent Development Officer & SVP, Comcast University & Comcast Cable, has been elected to the Vice Chair role. 

 

WICT also announced that incumbent board members Sandy Howe, SVP, Strategic Market Development, ARRIS, and Kelly Regal, EVP, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., moved up to the Board's Executive Committee, while four additional individuals will join the board for the first time in 2014 as Directors-at-Large. They are: Sandra Kapell, EVP, Human Resources and Administration, Cablevision Systems; Ellen Kroner, EVP, Communications, AMC Networks; Kathleen O'Reilly, Managing Director, Communications, Media & Technology, Accenture; and Leigh Woisard , VP, Corporate Public Affairs, Cox Communications. The WICT Board of Directors is comprised of individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences representing various disciplines of the industry. "We know that the cable industry is a dynamic environment and the Board members' vision and expertise will be instrumental as WICT carries out its mission to build women leaders." 

 

Mary Meduski joined Suddenlink Communications in 2006 as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, she helps set Suddenlink's strategic direction, raises capital to support the company's growth objectives, and oversees its accounting, tax, treasury, financial reporting, risk management, programming and information technology functions. Meduski served as vice chair on the 2012 WICT Board of Directors and as treasurer in 2009 and 2010, and she is a member of the WICT Midwest and New York Chapters. She also supports the Greater Texas Chapter. She has been named to CableFAX's list of "Most Powerful Women in Cable" in each of the last seven years, and was recently named a Multichannel News Wonder Woman, Class of 2012. 

 

Martha Soehren is the Chief Talent Development Officer and Senior Vice President for Comcast University and Comcast Cable. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in business, and a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Soehren has eleven years of experience with the Telecommunications Industry, 25 years with the Defense Industry, and 13 years of experience as an adjunct professor, research advisor and academic advisor. Active in the WICT Greater Philadelphia Chapter, Soehren joined the WICT National Board as a Director-at-Large in 2008, and moved to the Executive Committee in 2011. In addition to her role at WICT, Martha serves on the Board of Directors for SCTE, the Board of Directors for ASTD, the doctorate of learning advisory board for the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and is a Learning Leader for the Masie Consortium.

 

Sandra Kapell is Executive Vice president of human resources and administration for Cablevision Systems Corporation. Kapell is responsible for the development and execution of enterprise-wide human resources and administrative programs that foster a skilled, high-performing workforce. Throughout her career, Kapell has been a strong advocate for the advancement and professional development of women in the workplace. While at AIG, she was a key organizer of AIG's Global Women's Forum, a first of its kind mentoring program whose model has since been adopted by a number of companies in the U.S. In 2011, Kapell was recognized with a Top 10 Women in Business award by PINK, a leading digital platform for career women.  

 

Ellen Kroner is the Executive Vice President of Communications for AMC Networks Inc. She oversees media and industry relations, public relations, corporate branding and public affairs for AMC Networks Inc, and each of its entertainment businesses, AMC, IFC, Sundance Channel, WE tv and IFC Films. Kroner previously served on the board of the Association of Cable Communicators (ACC) and is a member of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM). She is an alumna of CTAM's executive management program, CTAM U at the Harvard Business School, and of WICT's Senior Executive Summit at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Kroner was named 2008 PR Executive of the Year by CableFAX. She was also named as one of CableFAX's "Most Powerful Women in Cable" each of the past four years.

 

Kathleen O'Reilly is a senior managing director within Accenture's Communications, Media and Technology Strategy & Transformation practice. In this role, she is responsible for leading our Management Consulting work worldwide within the communications, media and technology industries, helping clients create value through initiatives that enable profitable growth, innovation, operational excellence and transformational change. O'Reilly has worked in the communications, high tech and media industries for over 23 years and has advised or supported over 40 major industry players during that time. Prior to working for Accenture, she held executive positions at AT Kearney/EDS Managing Consulting as well as Ernst and Young. 

 

Leigh Woisard is Vice President of Public Affairs for Cox Communications. She is responsible for directing the company's internal communications, media relations, product public relations, crisis communications and corporate social responsibility initiatives. In her role, Woisard also serves as chief communications counsel to Cox's senior executives. She has served as a board member and volunteer for many non-profits and professional organizations including the Public Relations Society of America and the Association of Cable Communicators. She is currently enrolled in WICT's 2013/2014 Betsy Magness Leadership program and has served as a board member for the Virginia chapter where she co-chaired the WICT mentorship program.
