LeVoyd Carter has worked in the communications industry for more than 15 years and currently serves as executive director of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) for Cox Communications. Carter is the primary advisor to business leaders concerning the implementation, execution and enhancement of D&I strategies and initiatives and integrating related goals and strategies into business plans, processes and practices. Carter works closely with Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, HR Business Partners and Compliance at Cox Communications and other Cox companies as a member of the Cox Diversity Practitioners Group.
Prior to his current role, he served as deputy assistant general counsel of Regulatory Affairs specializing in communications law. He provided legal and strategic business advice to company leaders on cable, data and telephone laws and general regulatory matters governed by Congress and the Federal Communications Commission. At Cox, LeVoyd also previously served as senior counsel of Regulatory Affairs and director of Government Affairs. Before joining Cox, he held various leadership positions with the City of Atlanta, AT&T Broadband and Comcast Cable Communications.
LeVoyd is a member of and manages the plan and design of the Cox Communications National Diversity and Inclusion Council. Carter serves a mentor in the Cox Communications Mentorship Program and as a mentor in the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications’ (NAMIC) – L. Patrick Mellon Mentorship Program. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Cable Television Association of Georgia and has served as a board member of two successful Atlanta community based non-profits organizations, Raising Expectations, Inc. and Twenty-One Reasons to Give, Inc. LeVoyd most recently served as an honorary board member of the United States Business Leadership Network’s (USBLN) America’s Disabilities Rights Museum on Wheels.
LeVoyd is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and grew up the metro-Atlanta area. He is a graduate of Georgia State University, the University of Florida – Fredric G. Levin College of Law and the NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Alpharetta-Smyrna Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and his hobbies include photography, travel, reading and simply loving life. LeVoyd is married to his lovely wife Sherry and they have two wonderful children Anthony 21 and Anisa 16.
