Europe: Researching the Gender Gap

March 21 @ 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm CET

During this event of The WICT Network Europe and Deloitte, Professor Robert Dur will illustrate how data can be used to uncover striking facts about behavior and productivity in organizations, using a couple of fascinating recent studies. Topic include the effect of managers’ biases on their subordinates’ productivity, the effect of anti-discrimination policies on hiring, and the striking variety in the value added of managers and workers. Oftentimes, existing data can be used to uncover these facts. Sometimes one needs to set up a field experiment. Robert will briefly discuss what is needed to run field experiments that produce credible, actionable results.

Robert Dur is a Professor of Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His expertise lies in the field of organizational and personnel economics. He has run numerous field experiments together with businesses and public sector organizations so as to learn about the effects of a great variety of personnel policies, including reward programs, provision of feedback, and anti-discrimination policies. He is also president of the Royal Dutch Economic Association, columnist at De Correspondent, and expert member of the Policy Evaluation Committee at the Ministry of Finance.
