Joanne Chao

Joanne Chao is a Software Development and Engineering Manager for Comcast Premises Technology software group. This group is responsible for providing services to legacy devices’ delivery teams, including native, Digital Transport Adapter (DTA) set top boxes, server products and tools for both business and commercial customers.  The DTA team is responsible for designing and developing an on-screen guide that provides TV listings, parental controls and program information to digital adapters serving millions of customers.  Joanne manages the QA group focusing on identification, planning and execution of the Continuous Integration and test automation.  Joanne is also the scrum master for the group where she facilitates the team productivity of the new features in testing and development.    Prior to her current position at COMCAST, Joanne held several positions in the past including senior developer, project leader, program manager and QA manager.  Joanne played a key role in providing analysis, design, and development of IT solutions for her previous employers including GE and JP Morgan.

 

Joanne holds a Master’s of Science in Computer Science from Union College.   Joanne enjoys cooking, traveling, and the outdoors, and is working diligently to expand her organic garden.  She has two children – her daughter is graduating from medical school in May; her son graduated from ASU with a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and is currently employed by Owen’s Corning.  Joanne lives in Paoli, PA with her husband.
