Kim Oxendine

Kim Oxendine, Senior Manager of IT Security and Compliance for Spectrum, leads the IT Security and Compliance Assurance team in Charlotte, North Carolina working with teams across Spectrum’s nationwide footprint.  Kim has been instrumental in leading Security and Compliance strategy with the Compliance Assurance group at Charter by partnering with business owners to help them continually improve their security posture.  Her team works closely with all business application owners who are subject to PCI DSS security control objectives.  Kim believes that creating partnerships with the business owners not only helps to build a stronger and more secure infrastructure, but ensures that accountability of the compliance piece is shared across the organization.

Kim began her professional career as a United States Marine in the early 1980’s. This was an exciting time when women were just gaining a foothold in both the corporate workplace and in the military.  Then the Marine Corps recruiting slogan was "Looking for a Few Good Men".  Kim accepted the challenge to become one of the "Few Good Women", and is now proud to be named among "The Fewer, The Prouder". Every Marine is expected to develop as a leader regardless of their position in the rank structure; Kim accepted this role with honor. The Marine Corps leadership philosophy follows two simple objectives: Mission Accomplishment and Troop Welfare; these characteristics continue to define her leadership style today.

In addition to her military service, Kim served in Civil Service as Technical Contract Manager for the Navy and Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) program supporting Marine Corps bases Japan, as the Information Security Manager for Raytheon Technical Services and General Dynamics.  Throughout her career progression she has served as the Information Security Officer and on the Corporate IT Security Review board providing IT Security direction to General Dynamics and 13 business units.

Kim transitioned into the telecommunications sector in 2013 at Time Warner Cable as the Sr. Manager IT Security and Compliance, managing the Security and Compliance program for the Business Class customer’s Security and Compliance requirements.  She currently manages the IT Security and Compliance Assurance group to provide the business with assurance that Security Controls are in place and operating effectively.  Kim holds the ISC2 CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification, ISACA CISM (Certified Information Systems Manager) and PCI DSS ISA (Internal Security Assessor) certifications.

Kim and her husband David reside in Rock Hill, South Carolina and have three grown children and four grandchildren.  When Kim isn’t ensuring that Spectrum’s data is safe from cybercriminals, her and her family enjoy working in their garden year round, boating on Lake Wylie and traveling the world.
