Virginia Lazalde-McPherson

Virginia Lazalde-McPherson serves as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs at truTV, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. a Time Warner Company.

 

In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of business affairs for truTV; including, brokering of television, development and production deals.  Additionally, Lazalde-McPherson serves as an advisor to the network’s executives.  She is based in New York and reports to Sandra Dewey, President of TNT, TBS productions and Business Affairs.

 

Lazalde-McPherson comes to truTV after serving as senior vice president, deputy general counsel for business & legal affairs and music media & licensing for MTV networks and all aspects of their businesses.  In this capacity, she oversaw and managed a team of over 50 employees.  She was the lead deal maker for MTV, MTV2 and MTVU, brokering high-profile talent agreements, television deals, and production deals (creator, EP and production company deals); as well as, integrated marketing and sponsorship deals. 

 

During her tenure at MTV networks, she also served as head of music strategy, and was responsible for negotiating and drafting global music rights agreements for MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo’s linear and digital platforms; and handled Business & Legal Affairs for the Viacom creative group Scratch.

 

Prior to joining MTV in 2000, Lazalde-McPherson served as director of business affairs for Sony Music and started out as a lawyer for Lavely & Singer.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.
