The WICT Network Announces 2023 Chapter Award Honorees and 2024 Incoming Chapter Presidents and Advisors

WASHINGTON, DC, (February 16, 2024) – The WICT Network today announced both its 2023 chapter award recipients and its 2024 chapter presidents and advisors.

The WICT Network chapter awards measure important aspects of the Model Chapter Business Plan (MCBP), where chapters earn points for performance metrics that meet or exceed guidelines provided in the MCBP. The WICT Network presents the Chapter of the Year award to the top performing chapter(s) as measured by MCBP scores in areas such as programming, marketing and communications, governance and membership. For 2023, The WICT Network: Greater Philadelphia and The WICT Network: Southern California each earned the most possible points and received the Chapter of the Year award. 

The WICT Network also recognized the Chapter President of the Year, The WICT Network: Greater Philadelphia’s Yvette Thornton, Consultant, Clarke Innovations; and the Chapter Advisor of the Year, The WICT Network: Virginia’s Toni Stubbs, VP, Technology, Engineering & Operations at Cox Communications.

The WICT Network congratulates all of its 2023 Chapter Honorees on receiving the following awards:

  • Chapter of the Year awards were presented to The WICT Network: Greater Philadelphia and The WICT Network: Southern California.
  • Chapter President of the Year was presented to The WICT Network: Greater Philadelphia’s Yvette Thornton, Consultant, Clarke Innovations.
  • Chapter Advisor of the Year was presented to The WICT Network: Virginia’s Toni Stubbs, VP, Technology, Engineering & Operations, Cox Communications.
  • Chapter Leader of the Year was presented to Crystal Byrd, Newsroom Production Manager, Al Jazeera, who served as Programming Chair for The WICT Network: Washington DC/Baltimore.
  • Chapter Volunteer of the Year, awarded to an individual who has shown exemplary volunteer support of The WICT Network, was presented to The WICT Network: Greater Chicago’s Mark Burd, Business Process Effectiveness Analyst, Comcast. 
  • Most Improved Chapter for chapter growth and development from the previous year, was presented to The WICT Network: UK & Ireland. 
  • Community Service Award, awarded to chapters that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to giving back to their local communities, was presented to The WICT Network: New York.
  • Mentoring Excellence for chapter achievements in substance and implementation of an impactful mentoring program was presented to The WICT Network: Southeast for first place, Carolinas for second place and Rocky Mountain for third place.
  • Programming of the Year was presented to The WICT Network: Florida for first place, Greater Philadelphia for second place and Southeast for third place.
  • Innovation and Excellence, which honors a chapter that implemented new initiatives that improved the member experience and/or programs, services or campaigns that serve their community, was presented to The WICT Network: Heartland.
  • Inspire and Others Will Follow awards, which honors chapters that earned more than 90 points on the MCBP, were presented to The WICT Network: Carolinas, Florida, Great Lakes, Greater Ohio, Greater Philadelphia, Greater Pittsburgh, Heartland, Midwest, New York, Rocky Mountain, Southeast, Southern California, Virginia and Washington DC/Baltimore.
