Cherie Oswald

Cherie Oswald was named Senior Vice President, Business Development in April 2006 after serving as vice president of business development for Scripps Networks.

In her role, Oswald oversees all business development activities for Scripps Networks shelter brands, HGTV, seen in over 90 million households and DIY, distributed to over 40 million households.  During her time with Scripps, Oswald has been instrumental in securing a business partnership with publishing giant The Taunton Press, and was at the center of the first-ever branded merchandise trial placing HGTV, Food Network and DIY Network DVDs in Target stores across the country.  With the success of this initiative, Oswald also paved the way for Scripps to expand nationally across the country with its video product.  Her other contributions include leading the establishment of a business unit devoted to monetizing Scripps video library across emerging platforms, and the formation of the first Scripps Networks strategic planning department.

Before joining Scripps Networks in September 2000 as director of strategic planning, Oswald was a group manager of marketing analysis for Frito-Lay Inc. in Dallas and served as director of planning and group controller for the cereals, snack and frozen foods division of The Quaker Oats Company in Chicago.  She also founded and owned DonChers, Chicago’s largest retail gift packing operation, which produced thousands of gift and promotional arrangements each year for individuals and corporations.

Oswald graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. and M.S. in Finance.  Mother of three children, she currently resides in Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband, and devotes time to community activities in animal rescue and charitable fund raising.
